The Bordófono was born. A new project in collaboration with Andrés Rodrigues, to make this instrument.

The second weekend of October was born by INCRA (Andrés and Iván Nespereira), at the Mixtur Festival, (Barcelona’s New Sound Creation Festival), within their show “Ronco: Disección anatomica da gaita”. This is how Andrés explains: “It is an experimentation project around the bagpipe and its sound radicality. By starting from the drone, which act as a pedal and serves as a base on a standardized instrument for the realization of the melody with the chanter, we collaboratively designed this Bordófono that feeds the possibilities of execution and listen and allows us to process an infinite number of harmonics of varied and rich forms.”

This sound instrument is inspired by our Multibordón Gaita which we celebrate our 80th anniversary in the construction of gaitas (in 2019). It moves to another field, feeds air autonomously and allows you to play the drones in very creative ways. The sounds that this instrument emits are deep and vibrant, and certainly something hypnotic and relaxing to listen to. The five drones are in one, two or three tonalities each one, thanks to the shutters you can play with them, mix them and find very pleasant harmonies where creativity is at its best.
